Guiding You Through a Healthy Pregnancy

Did you know that 96% of women experience back pain during pregnancy? Think of all the extra weight you're carrying around from your unborn baby. Hormonal changes make the pelvis more flexible, which can result in the spinal joints, muscles and ligaments more susceptible to injury. Chiropractic care can help expecting moms by

  • Educating you on correct posture, lifting and other lifestyle factors that can reduce spinal stress
  • Ensuring the joints of the pelvis and low back move more comfortably as your body prepares for birth
  • Helping the spine adapt to the increased weight and altered posture of pregnancy
  • Recommending exercises to improve spinal health
  • Restoring joint mechanics to reduce pain and improve function

Our Prenatal Chiropractors Are Highly Credentialed

Dr. Saylor undertook obstetric studies during her time at chiropractic school. She has also acquired additional education about pregnancy care. Dr. Saylor earned her Pediatric Diplomate (DICCP) in 2000. This board-certified chiropractic specialty was established in 1993 by the Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics of the International Chiropractors Association. The comprehensive certification program entails 30 modules or more than 360 hours taught over the course of three years.

Developed by Dr. Larry Webster of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, this method gently addresses tension in the mother's pelvis and sacrum, helping the pelvis return to greater balance. When the pelvis is more balanced, the uterine environment can sit more symmetrically as the baby grows. The Webster Technique does not reposition the baby. Any movement the baby makes is its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

How safe is an adjustment during pregnancy?

During pregnancy is one of the best times to use gentle, pregnancy-adapted care. Pregnant mothers often find chiropractic care helps with lower back and pelvic discomfort and helps them feel more supported as they prepare for birth. Many pregnant patients tell us care helps them feel more comfortable and move more easily through the later weeks of pregnancy. KST is a gentle, low-force technique that many moms find comfortable during pregnancy, for both mom and baby.

In fact, you rarely even have to lie down on a table. Dr. Saylor has her Diplomate in Pregnancy and Pediatrics, which is a 3-year additional degree. We have a great video that helps explain how KST chiropractic can benefit you during your pregnancy.

How often do I need to come in?

It depends on how far you are in your pregnancy, and what the doctors find on the examination.

Will you work with my OB-GYN?

We work hand in hand with many OB-GYNs.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

We are IN NETWORK with BCBS, Messa & BCN. We encourage you to call your insurance company to find out exactly what your individual plan may cover. If you have BCN, most plans require a referral. We have a list of MDs that happily will refer to us.

We are OUT OF NETWORK with all other insurance companies. We encourage you to call your insurance company to find out exactly what your out of network benefits are and how you can submit to be reimbursed for them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Prenatal Chiropractic

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when provided by a chiropractor trained in prenatal care. Our doctors use gentle, pregnancy-adapted techniques like Koren Specific Technique that require no twisting or lying face-down, and we coordinate with your OB or midwife as part of your care team.

What is the Webster Technique?

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for pregnant women. It gently addresses tension in the pelvis and sacrum to support better maternal pelvic balance and comfort. It does not reposition the baby.

When should I start seeing a chiropractor during pregnancy?

You can begin chiropractic care at any stage of pregnancy. Many women start in the first trimester for wellness support, while others seek care later to address back pain or pelvic discomfort. The earlier you begin, the more your body can benefit throughout pregnancy.

Can chiropractic help with breech presentation?

The Webster Technique focuses on the mother's pelvis and sacrum, not on manually turning a baby. When the pelvis is more balanced, the uterine environment can sit more symmetrically as the baby grows. Any movement the baby makes is its own.

How often should pregnant women see a chiropractor?

Visit frequency depends on your stage of pregnancy and examination findings. Many expectant mothers are seen weekly or biweekly, with more frequent visits as the due date approaches. Your chiropractor will create a personalized care plan based on your specific needs.
